Hey Joe...
Do range rovers get any better the newer they are??? For example Im looking to buy a 2006 or 2007. 8/24/2010
Joe says...
Range Rovers are always awesome if people take take care of them. Those are great years, just buy from someone you know well or a dealer. Get an extended warranty if available, it will benefit you in the long run especially if you plan to keep it forever. LRJ
Joe says...
Most will tell you to check coolant when its needed. But let me know what you're driving. LRJ
Hey Joe...
I have a 1999 range rover se, dealer told me I needed to replace fuel pump, I did it and it still wont start. 7/2/2010
Joe says...
Well, I guess it wasn't the fuel pump. Seriously, usually a fuse blows when you do that-so check the fuse. LRJ
Hey Joe...
1998 LR D1 4.0 starts and idles fine, when you give it gas it cuts out. The rpms won't go over 1,800. fuel pressure at the rails fine.??? 6/15/2010
Joe says...
It could be a few things, 1st is it giving you a code? If so, let me know. Could be plugs or wires or more. LRJ.
Hey Joe...
2004 R. Rover 70k miles stuck on high gear & not shifting after a 3 mins 10mph drive. Why pease 6/9/2010
Joe says...
It sounds like it's in a limp mode. It could be so many things, taking it in & paying for diagnosis will be worth your time & money in this case. LRJ
Hey Joe...
my computer tells me on my 98 discovery that my number 5 cyclinder has a injector malfunction? 6/2/2010
Joe says...
It can't say that-but probably telling you there's a misfire. It could be a few different things, so go ahead and take it in. LRJ
Joe says...
Joe says...
Hate to tell ya, unless you have a key or can wait to order-gotta break a window. Aim for one of the smaller windows that is less costly to replace. It's ok to cry when you break it...LRJ
Hey Joe...
where can I get a front left brake line for a 92 classic without breaking the bank 5/22/2010
Joe says...
Try Swindon in the UK http://www.motorparks.co.uk or Atlantic British in the US http://www.roverparts.com/. Don't buy unless it's from someone you trust.
Joe says...
Class 1. LRJ
Joe says...
Let me know what problem you are having & what model. I can say handle it now- it's a lot more expensive if all 4 go out. LRJ
Joe says...
Are you talking about buying or servicing? Either way, 1st place to start is with people who own them, new and old. LRJ
Joe says...
Joe says...
Good ol' fashioned turn the key and jiggle the wheel. It shouldn't be a concern. Just straighten out the steering wheel before turning off your Rover next time. LRJ
Joe says...
You have a fuel problem that needs to be resolved if the Ethenol isn't even working. I'd go ahead and take it to your dealer because one problem will lead to more. Take care of your Rangie and it will take care of you. LRJ
Hey Joe...
Hi Joe, 2004 Range Rover motor is history, leak in coolant. Need a new motor any ideas where I can find one.............. 4/19/2010
Joe says...
Bummer. You can go to your local dealer or if you're in the US, try Atlantic British- www.roverparts.com. Let me know if you're in the UK. Good luck. LRJ
Joe says...
Hey Joe...
my land rover discovery was clipped by another car and the driver's side external mirror came out. it is just hanging down and i cannot get it to pop back in. Help! 4/13/2010
Joe says...
Either the clip that hold it is gone/broken, or the piece on the back is gone/broken. May want to visit your Parts Department. LRJ
Joe says...
Joe says...
Cheesecake. Does that count? LRJ
Joe says...
What Land Rover do you drive? LRJ
Joe says...
The safest option would be to call your local Land Rover dealership & the parts department should have a good recommendation. That way if you run in to any issues they can help you out. LRJ
Joe says...
Um. No. Just buy the LR4. LRJ
Hey Joe...
my 98 range rover 4.6 will start and run for a few minutes and then die. have changed crank and cam sensor so far??? still does it. 3/1/2010
Joe says...
Have you tried checking fuel pressure? Let me know- LRJ
Joe says...
If it's cranking, but not starting-then start w/ the fuel pump. If it starts one day and not at all the next-then it's a different set of issues. Let me know. LRJ
Joe says...
Hey buddy, thanks for the question but I have no idea what you're asking. Try again. LRJ.
Joe says...
It's under the hood, on the right side. Let me know what else you need. LRJ
Hey Joe...
hey i have a 87 country break problem i can only relieve pressure by unscrewing the pressure valve on the master 1/3/2010
Joe says...
Have you released one of the bleed valves on the wheels, and does it bleed? Let me know. LRJ
Joe says...
Sorry to hear about your engine. With a Freelander, I'd trade it for an LR2-the 04 engines are tough to come by and are pricey. LRJ
Joe says...
Hey buddy-let me know what you're driving-LRJ
Joe says...
Don't push the button? What's really going on? LRJ
Hey Joe...
what is the minimum (sensible) height that could drive a defender - i.e. if I get one would the othe rhalf be able to drive it? 10/25/2009
Joe says...
I get unusual questions and I think you're asking what is the height requirement? I say take a test drive, see if it's safe and comfortable especially for manual transmission. Good luck with that...LRJ
Hey Joe...
i have a 90 which has a 200 tdi fitted can i drop in a v8 without having to change much? 10/20/2009
Joe says...
Yes, it can be done. If you're prepared to spend the money & be persistent. You will have to change a lot. If you want to email the year, that will help. LRJ
Joe says...
No-because I don't know of a 4.11. I know of a 4.0-if you want 2 give specifics you can email me on my Facebook page because if you're asking what I think it's a big job. LRJ
Joe says...
Well, break a window. But won't you need to start it? LRJ
Joe says...
If it is still under warranty, definitely get it in to a dealership. If it is not, it should be handled because there can be severe metal damage. Just be sure to get it to someone you trust, but should be an easy fix. LRJ
Joe says...
Hi Susan-You may not think it's a battery because it charges but I believe it still could be the battery. If it makes a clicking sound when it starts, it's the battery. If not, let me know & we'll take the next step. LRJ
Joe says...
The Defender was sold in the US as early as 1987, but marketed mostly between 1993 & 1998, until US safety regulations changed requirements for airbags & side impact requirements, to name a few. You can still buy them, but they are hard to find. Of course, as with anything, you can get anything for the right price. LRJ
Joe says...
Ah..there isn't one, it's built in to the fuel pump. LRJ
Hey Joe...
Joe my 1970 Landy 2A requires a replacement distributer shall i replace as original or go andfita electronic type no points etc 7/29/2009
Joe says...
I would definitely stick with the original.
Hey Joe...
Hi Joe. In my '05 LR3, would you know why any device I plug into the cigarette lighter behind the armrest blows the car fuse every time? 7/24/2009
Joe says...
Unfortunately, there could be any number of factors contributing to the individual lighter blowing. This is worth taking it in to be diagnosed, something else could be overloading it.
Hey Joe...
My power steering pump is leaking around the base plate were the 2 hoses go in at the underneath on my disco 300 tdi. How can I fix this? 7/18/2009
Joe says...
That is hard to answer since I don't know if it's the hose, the fitting or the pump itself. Check all 3, and that may get you started and let me know what you find out. LRJ
Joe says...
Check the bleed on the ABS. Also, was the master cylinder new or re-manufactured? Check the rubber brake lines because they are known to swell closed. And lastly, make sure you are using the correct brake fluid. Hope that heads you in the right direction. LRJ
Hey Joe...
Where could I buy galvanized Series 3 chassis, with possible export to South Africa 7/14/2009
Joe says...
In the US, Atlantic British: www.roverparts.com is a great resource. Not sure how much they can ship, but they are a great place to start! Good luck. LRJ
Hey Joe...
I've noticed, after unlocking with remote, a sound like the air suspension adjusting itself. Does the LR3 have some pre-check initiated by unlocking with the remote? 7/13/2009
Joe says...
Joe says...
It has been programmed to do that-being I don't know if you want it to adjust to a different height or stop completely, it can be done by you and you can check your owner's manual under "Suspension Remote Operation". If you have a specific request or don't have a manual, let me know. LRJ
Joe says...
Hey Joe...
Hi Joe, my 300tdi 90 overheats when it goes over 70mph then instantly cools when I slow down. What's up with it? 7/13/2009
Joe says...
It sounds like you may have an airflow issue to the radiator. I'd take it in and have it checked. LRJ
Joe says...

Land Rover Indianapolis 317-848-7447. This is a great link to search by your zip: http://www.landroverusa.com/us/en/Dealers/Retailers_Overview.htm
Joe says...
Jiggle the steering wheel and turn on the ignition. If that doesn't work, let me know what you're driving and maybe I can help. Good luck-LRJ
Hey Joe...
I sold my DII because of electrical problems. I really want a 5-speed DI. What can I realistically expect to pay for a 5spd DI in fair to good condition? 6/24/2009
Joe says...
Markets vary. Even w/ only fair to good condition, I would contact your local Land Rover dealer. They should have no problem helping you with your market, even if you don't purchase from them. Also, they may have customers who are looking to sell their DI and ideally that would be the best situation as they would have a service record. Good luck LRJ
Hey Joe...
What happened to the Camel Trophy event? Is Land Rover going to start a new one? 6/23/2009
Joe says...
Land Rover was a sponsor for 20 years & in 1999, felt the event was moving away from the adventure aspect, right now, there aren't any Land Rover will sponsor. This is a really great history of Camel Trophy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camel_Trophy
Joe says...
The Sport Mode is best for a longer gear shift; for open road driving or carrying a heavy load. For off-roading & backroads, Manual Mode is most likely the better choice.
Hey Joe...
Do you know of a 1990-1999 manual transmission Land Rover Discovery for sale? In decent shape? 6/19/2009
Joe says...
That is tough, be sure to really research. You can start with Car Cannibal http://www.carcannibal.com/rover/ or Rovers North http://www.roversnorth.com/store/ I'm not sure if they have what you need, but they can get you started. Don't buy anything without looking into the seller. Good luck. LRJ
Hey Joe...
2001 DII What does the main wiring harness connect to behind the O2 sensors and the starter? 6/11/2009
Joe says...
Check this link: http://www.ownerinfo.landrover.com/extfree2viewlrprod/index.jsp
you should find a manual that should help. If you have more questions, let me know. LRJ
Joe says...
Because no matter how long you own one, they always look cool. They’re solid and timeless because they’re made like no other and every Land Rover has its own personality.
Joe says...
It could possibly be the water pump or the alternator bearing, check with the dealer, they should be able to find out the source. LRJ
Joe says...
The Defender needs airbags and ABS for the US market. Hopefully this is on the way! Land Rover Joe
Joe says...
You can call the local shop I deal with here in Texas. John, in parts, @landroveraustin can get parts for a 1996 out of England if needed. You can call (512) 236-0000 or email him at johng at landroveraustin.com. Let me know if this helps. LRJ
Joe says...
The local shop here in Austin has a good selection of new with a few they put on special from time to time with pretty nice discounts. It might be worth checking them out to see what they currently have. Tell John in parts the Land Rover Joe sent you! His email is johng at landroveraustin.com. If that does not work out for you, let me know and we will explore other options.
Joe says...
Land Rovers are considered one of the best worldwide. Plus they are ready for the offroading without any aftermarket adjustments made to the unit. Land Rover Joe
Joe says...
Here is a good site for Clubs in US & Cananda. http://www.roverparts.com/Clubs/ Your local dealer should have Wheels Events and Driving Schools on their website. If you need help in a specific location, let me know. LRJ
Joe says...
Please send in a bit more details. LRJ
Joe says...
The ole Range Rover (P38 pre-1999) did take a while to get up to 60mph – that is just the nature of these Rangies. I remember one write up where they said you needed an appointment to get on the road. -- LRJ
Hey Joe...
I need a bike rack for an 07 sport hse .... do i have to get a hitch mount and if so do I have to get a hitch from RR? 4/24/2009
Joe says...
The receiver hitch part is standard on your model and is recessed into the back bumper. With that said, you will need to check to make sure anything you buy other than LR takes the recessed depth into account when properly fitted. Hope this helps... Land Rover Joe
Joe says...
Does this help? http://www.landroversonly.com/forums/f8/steering-vibration-panhard-rod-bushings-r-r-1284/ It looks like they were experiencing steering vibration.
Joe says...
Normally it does not happen at all. Your Disco will need to be serviced and checked out by a Land Rover Tech. The only time my Range Rover overheated was when the coolant level was low and adding coolant resolved the problem for my situation. - Thanks LRJ
Joe says...
LRNA has had a problem with columns locking up... I talked to a few people about this and they recommend the best thing to do is to bring it back into the dealer for a look. LRJ
Joe says...
Hi. I do not know of any way to get the column unlocked without getting the dealer to take a look at it. Regards, LRJ

Joe says...
The Land Rover website contains some generic information about where to find service intervals. http://www.landrover.com/us/en/Company/FAQ/FAQ.htm
Q: What are the recommended service intervals for my Land Rover?
A: To keep your Land Rover running at peak performance, follow the recommended maintenance schedule for your vehicle. Schedule and detailed information can be found in your Land Rover Passport to Service booklet.
Send me your year and model and I can forward information for your specific case.
Thanks, LRJ
Joe says...
Check out the ones from Land Rover here. More to come...
Hey Joe...
Can a bad ECM cause an injector circuit to stay open? I keep getting fuel injector circuit fault and misfire codes on my no.8 cyl. Changing the injector did nothing. 4/19/2009
Joe says...
Please tweet me the Year and Model... Thanks LRJ
Hey Joe...
Side mirrors...when in reverse they automatic turn downward, what makes them stop doing that & how to resolve it w/o going to dealer? 4/19/2009
Joe says...
Please tweet in the year and model so I can research this further for you. Thanks LRJ
Joe says...
@LandRoverJoe from @RoverMark - Use turn stalk button, go to menu, scroll to mirror dip, use+ to turn off
Joe says...
@LandRoverJoe from @BudgieUK I think it's an option that you set using the indicator stalk and the speedo display thing... You can adjust how much they dip
Joe says...
On most models your owners manual will have the instructions to disable the mirror dip. I'm going to look a bit deeper into this for you.
Hey Joe...
Why are Range Rovers so unreliable? April 10, 2009 11:18:56 PM
Joe says...
Unreliable? Land Rover in the beginning did have problems that created a stigma associated with the brand. Over time the brand has become very reliable and is considered the 4x4 of choice when spending time in the outback. Land Rover as a brand is very reliable and has more technology built into it than any other 4x4 in the world.
Hey Joe...
Any thoughts on which extended warraty to purchase? The LR one is way overpriced but looking at other aftermarket providers... Sun, Apr 12, 2009 at 11:13 AM
